Hyrox vs Tactical Fitness Tests — Which Trains the Other?
Firefighter (CPAT), military (ACFT, RFT), and police selection tests share Hyrox's DNA: weighted carries, sleds, ladders, and sustained running. Hyrox is sometimes used as off-season prep for tactical athletes precisely because the demands rhyme.
Hyrox is excellent off-season prep for any tactical fitness test. The reverse is also true — tactical training builds 70-80% of Hyrox-ready fitness without the running base.
Side-by-side comparison

Frequently asked questions
Will Hyrox training pass a CPAT or ACFT?
If you're hitting an Open Hyrox sub-80 min, you almost certainly pass CPAT and the cardio half of ACFT. The deadlift max in ACFT is the only piece Hyrox training doesn't directly build — add 6-8 weeks of strength block before the test.
Are firefighter and military athletes good at Hyrox?
Yes, especially in mid-pack and competitive Open. Tactical athletes have built-in farmers carry and sled prep. The gap is usually wall ball mechanics and sustained running pace, not strength.
Can I train for both at once?
Yes. Use Hyrox training as the off-season block (12-20 weeks out from the test) then sharpen with task-specific drills 4-6 weeks out. Don't try to peak both in the same month.
