Coros Hyrox Setup, Activity Profile, Data Fields, and Race-Day Tips

How to set up your Coros Pace, Apex, or Vertix for Hyrox racing. Custom workout, HR fields, manual lap protocol, and post-race review.

By

Coros lacks an official Hyrox profile, but its simple lap structure and best-in-class HR battery life make it a strong race-day choice. With a 5-minute custom workout in the Coros app, you’ll capture clean HR data, manual station laps, and per-km running splits.

Best Coros watches for Hyrox

WatchRecommended?
Vertix 2Sβœ… Top pick
Apex 2 Proβœ… Great alternative
Pace Proβœ… Best budget
Pace 3βœ… Solid budget
Apex 2βœ… Works fine
Pace 2βœ… Older but functional

All Coros watches with manual lap and HR-zone tracking will handle Hyrox.

Building a custom Hyrox activity

Step 1: Open the Coros app on phone

Coros app β†’ Profile β†’ Activities.

Step 2: Add or duplicate a profile

  • For run + station combo: pick Cross Training (closest fit)
  • For run-only logging: pick Indoor Run with manual segmenting
  • For multi-sport setup: Multisport (Vertix/Apex 2 Pro only)

Rename to β€œHyrox”.

Step 3: Configure data fields

Build a 4-field primary screen:

FieldPosition
Heart rateTop
Lap timeMiddle-left
Total timeMiddle-right
DistanceBottom

Add a secondary screen with avg HR, max HR, and calories.

Step 4: Set auto-lap

In the activity profile settings:

  • Auto-lap: Distance, every 1 km
  • Auto-pause: OFF (Hyrox stations would trigger it incorrectly)
  • Auto-scroll: Off (manual swipe between screens)

Step 5: Pair HR chest strap

Coros HRM-Fit pairs natively. Polar H10 also works (BLE-compatible).

  1. Open Coros app β†’ Devices β†’ Add new device
  2. Wet HRM electrodes, wear it
  3. Confirm pairing

The HRM auto-connects when you start the Hyrox profile.

Race-day Coros protocol

Night before:

  • βœ… Sync watch to Coros app
  • βœ… Charge to 100%
  • βœ… Confirm Hyrox profile in activity list
  • βœ… Update firmware if available

Race morning:

  • βœ… Strap on chest HRM after breakfast
  • βœ… Confirm watch shows HR before warm-up
  • βœ… Start activity in corral
  • βœ… Press lap (back-left button) at each station entry and station exit
  • βœ… Stop watch at the finish line

That’s roughly 16 manual laps across the race (8 stations Γ— 2). It’s doable but requires you to remember mid-race.

Why Coros battery is a Hyrox advantage

A typical Hyrox lasts 60-100 minutes. Coros watches with chest-strap HR drain about 1-2% battery per hour in this mode. For multi-day Hyrox events (e.g. tracking warm-ups and the race), Coros’ battery means you don’t have to charge mid-event.

Reviewing your race after

  • Coros app β†’ History
  • Tap the activity
  • View HR graph + lap-by-lap splits

The cleanest visualisation: filter by HR zone breakdown to see where your time was spent. For most Open Hyrox athletes, expect 60-70% of time in Z3-Z4.
