Garmin Hyrox Activity Profile Setup, Race-Day Configuration

Step-by-step Garmin Connect IQ setup for Hyrox: custom activity profile, data fields, auto-laps for stations, and the official Hyrox app on Forerunner / Fenix / Epix.

By

Garmin has an official Hyrox activity profile (jointly developed with Hyrox HQ) available on Connect IQ for all major modern Forerunner, Fenix, and Epix models. It auto-detects stations, captures per-segment splits, and uploads a complete race breakdown to Garmin Connect.

If your watch supports it, install it. If not, this guide covers the manual configuration that gets you 90% of the same data.

Watches that support the official Hyrox profile

ModelSupported?
Forerunner 165 / 255 / 265 / 955 / 965βœ…
Fenix 7 / 7 Pro / 8 / Tactixβœ…
Epix Pro / Enduro 3βœ…
Vivoactive 5βœ…
Forerunner 245 / 645 / 245 Music❌ (custom profile only)
Fenix 5 / 6 / 6 Pro❌ (custom profile only)

Installing the official Hyrox profile

  1. Open Connect IQ Store (in the Garmin Connect app on your phone)
  2. Search β€œHyrox”
  3. Install the official Hyrox app (developer: Garmin / Hyrox)
  4. Sync your watch (next time you connect)
  5. On the watch: Activities & Apps β†’ Add β†’ Hyrox

The profile will appear in your activity menu alongside Run, Bike, etc.

What the official profile tracks

Once active, the profile auto-detects:

  • Run laps (1 km each)
  • Station segments (SkiErg, sled push, sled pull, etc.)
  • Transitions
  • Total race time

Your post-race Garmin Connect upload shows a station-by-station breakdown comparable to the official Hyrox results.

Manual setup for older watches

If your Garmin doesn’t support the official profile, build a custom activity instead:

Step 1: Create a β€œHyrox” activity profile

  • On the watch: Settings β†’ Activities & Apps β†’ Add New β†’ Other β†’ Rename to β€œHyrox”
  • Or in Garmin Connect: Devices β†’ Activities & Apps β†’ Edit β†’ Add Custom Activity

Step 2: Configure data screens

Set up a 4-field primary screen:

FieldPosition
Lap TimeTop
Heart RateMiddle-left
PaceMiddle-right
Total TimeBottom

Add a secondary screen with distance, average HR, and kcal.

Step 3: Set auto-lap

Best option: Auto-Lap by Distance, every 1 km. This gives you a clean run lap every km plus a station lap when you finish station work and start running again.

Alternative: Manual Lap. Press the lap button at each station entry and exit. More accurate but easy to forget mid-race.

Step 4: Disable auto-pause

Auto-pause messes up Hyrox tracking, it will pause every time you stop briefly at a station. Turn auto-pause off in the activity settings.

Step 5: Set HR alert (optional)

Set a high-HR alert at 95% of HRmax. If your watch buzzes, slow down, you’re in the zone where most race blow-ups start.

Wrist HR is less accurate during heavy gripping work (sled pull, farmers carry, wall balls). A chest strap (HRM-Pro Plus or HRM-Dual) gives clean data through the entire race.

To pair:

  1. Wet the strap electrodes
  2. Wear it tight, just below the chest
  3. On the watch: Sensors β†’ Add Sensor β†’ HRM
  4. Confirm the watch pairs (usually instant)

Race-day Garmin checklist

The night before:

  • βœ… Charge to 100%
  • βœ… Sync to phone (latest software)
  • βœ… Confirm Hyrox profile is at the top of your activity list
  • βœ… Set wrist HR or chest strap as primary

Race morning:

  • βœ… Strap on chest HRM after breakfast
  • βœ… Watch paired and showing HR before you enter the corral
  • βœ… Start activity in the corral (paused), hit start when the announcer calls β€œGO”
  • βœ… Don’t look at the watch for the first 2 km, just run

After the race

  • Upload to Garmin Connect within 60 seconds (auto via Bluetooth)
  • View activity for station-by-station splits
  • Export to Strava to share publicly (toggle in Garmin Connect settings)
